Every now and again a great idea is formed somewhere, in some brain, in some community, and blossoms into a phenomenon. This is the work of One Block off the Grid or 1BOG as it has affectionately come to be known. A metaphorically named organisation, the aim is to create a community-based program that gets a group of keen locals together, interested in investing in solar power and organising a discount for every household involved. There’s more power and more knowledge in numbers and in times of financial strife, we could all use a discount for a worthy cause. So far the program is active in the United States, but if the program has continued success, these kids could go global - ticking one block off at a time.
